New two-story classroom building with facilities for vocational classrooms and labs, administrative offices, student support services, ancillary functions and auxiliary storage facilities. Extensive site infrastructure included new chilled water central plant production system, new electrical service for the entire campus, new pressurized water main and dedicated fire service, the extension/relocation of existing sanitary storm water and chilled water piping, a new emergency natural gas generator and natural gas service, data and telephone service cabling. Site work consisted of preparation of the building pad, including the removal of unsatisfactory soils (de-mucking) down to the cap rock shelf and replacing the soils with select fill sub base for the building, parking lots and underground utilities, plus new roads internal to the campus connecting the existing and new buildings and parking lots, plazas, sidewalks, walkways between buildings, new landscaping, irrigation system, fencing and site lighting.
Sustainable Construction Cost Savings: When the renovation of the campus chiller plant and power upgrades were completed and the new 28,160SF building came on line with the existing 50,000SF campus, the energy consumption remained the same – an immediate ‘green’ savings impact.
